RTP and House Edge Explained
RTP, or Return to Player, is a game's theoretical return rate, expressed as a percentage. For example, if a slot has an RTP of 96%, it means that over the long run, an average of ৳96 is returned for every ৳100 wagered. This is an average figure, and results can vary from session to session.
House edge is the flip side of RTP — the portion the casino retains over the long run. If the RTP is 97%, the house edge is 3%. Slot games typically have an RTP ranging from 92% to 98%, blackjack can reach nearly 99% (with correct strategy), and roulette generally falls between 94% and 97%.
Volatility, or variance, is another important concept. In high-volatility games, big wins are infrequent but can be larger in size, while low-volatility games deliver smaller wins more often. Even with the same RTP, the experience of high- and low-volatility games is completely different.
Knowing the RTP and volatility of a game before playing makes budget management much easier. Choosing games with a higher RTP means it is possible to keep losses lower over the long run. This is a core principle of responsible gaming.
| Game Type | Typical RTP | House Edge |
|---|---|---|
| Slot Games | 92% – 98% | 2% – 8% |
| Blackjack | ~99% | ~1% |
| Roulette (European) | ~97.3% | ~2.7% |
| Baccarat | ~98.9% | ~1.1% |
How to Read Odds
The simplest odds format in online betting is decimal odds. For example, if Bangladesh Tigers' odds for a match are 1.80, it means that if you bet ৳500, your total return will be ৳900 (৳500 × 1.80 = ৳900). Your original stake of ৳500 is included in that return, so your profit would be ৳400.
Implied probability is the likelihood derived from the odds. At odds of 1.80, the implied probability is 1 ÷ 1.80 = 55.6%. This means the betting platform considers that team's chance of winning to be approximately 56%.
Odds Format Comparison
| Format | Example | Total Return on ৳500 Bet |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 1.80 | ৳900 |
| Fractional | 4/5 | ৳900 |
| American | -125 | ৳900 |
pg25 uses decimal odds, which are the most straightforward for players in Bangladesh. The higher the odds, the greater the potential profit — but the lower the chance of winning.
Football Betting
Football fans in Bangladesh are most passionate about the Premier League, La Liga, UEFA Champions League, and FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. pg25 offers betting on matches across all these tournaments.
Main Betting Markets:
1X2
Home win (1), Draw (X), or Away win (2) — the simplest betting market.
Double Chance
Cover two of the three possible outcomes — lower risk.
Over / Under Goals
Whether the total number of goals in a match will be above or below a set line.
Both Teams to Score (BTTS)
Whether both teams will score at least one goal each — yes or no.
Asian Handicap
A virtual goal deficit is given to the stronger team to create an even playing field.
First Goalscorer
Which player will score the first goal — an exciting market with high odds.
Note: Many big Premier League and Champions League matches kick off at midnight Bangladesh time (BST) or later. pg25's 24/7 platform lets you bet on these late-night matches without any interruption.
Fishing & Arcade Games
Fish-shooting games are extremely popular in Bangladesh and Southeast Asia. In each game you have a cannon and various types of fish swim across the screen. Each shot has a set cost — managing that cost is the core strategy.
Shooting small fish yields smaller rewards, but taking down boss fish or special characters can win large multipliers. Raising the cannon's power level increases the cost per shot but also improves the chance of catching bigger fish. It is therefore wise to set the cannon level according to your budget.
Classic Fishing
A straightforward fish-hunting game, ideal for beginners.
Boss Fish Challenge
Take down massive boss characters to win big prizes.
Bomb Fishing
Use special bomb shells to catch multiple fish at once.
Jackpot Fishing
Trigger a special jackpot for a chance at a large consecutive win.
Cricket Partnerships in the Industry
Sponsorship of cricket by online betting brands is now an established trend in international cricket. From the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) to international T20 leagues, various betting brands are investing in team jersey and event sponsorships.
Some examples familiar in the Bangladesh market: Babu88 has entered into official partnerships with the Montreal Tigers and Colombo Strikers, Crickex is active as a sponsor in various regional cricket tournaments, and Jeetbuzz has signed West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell as brand ambassador. This trend shows that cricket fans in Bangladesh represent a significant segment of the betting industry.
Every international series featuring Bangladesh Tigers, especially during the T20 World Cup and Asia Cup, sees notable activity in the betting markets. Detailed betting markets for these matches are available on pg25.
